A local resident

Ndini (This is me) - Portraits by Mbeke Waseme

I moved here from London - the Lewisham area, where I was when I was still going to university. My welcoming message for the new residents would be: just get involved, look around in the community. See what there is. I ended up going to one of the gyms in the centre of Gravesend, and honestly, it was one of the best things I ever could have done. Really, sort of, changed my life. Just sort of keep your heart and your mind open and have a look around, see what there is, and get involved. My favourite local areas: I have a sentimental connection on Perry Street where The Wellbeing Link began. And then also when I think of one of the guys I support just up the road, the sweetest sweetest thing so you know even if I were to move away from working out around here tomorrow I'd still remember and hold on to those two things… the heart of it. - From Ndini (This is me), a series of photographs and interviews with local residents by Mbeke Waseme, commissioned by Cement Fields for Ebbsfleet Citizen Archive.
